Las fotos las tomó el satélite Proba-2 (Efe) EL UNIVERSAL martes 30 de julio de 2013 04:42 PM París.- La Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA) difundió hoy las fotografías más recientes de la corona solar captadas por el satélite Proba-2 que muestran lo que esa organización calificó como "Sol violento". Las imágenes fueron tomadas gracias a los dos monitores instalados en ese satélite de observación solar que lleva en órbita desde noviembre de 2009 como plataforma de investigación científica, destacó Efe. Uno de esos monitores es el SWAP, un observador solar que emplea un sistema de detección de píxeles activos y procesamiento de imagen, es decir, un pequeño telescopio que captura la longitud de onda correspondiente a temperaturas que rondan el millón de grados. Estas imágenes se utilizan para estudiar el origen de fenómenos como los estallidos solares o proyecciones de masa solar, que consisten en erupciones masivas de material al espacio, precisó la ESA en un comunicado. Los fenómenos que se analizan son elementos que afectan a la meteorología espacial que a su vez repercute fuertemente en las condiciones ambientales de la magnetosfera, la ionosfera y la termosfera terrestres. "La climatología espacial no solo tiene interés académico. En la actualidad de la economía europea, muchos sectores se ven potencialmente afectados por ello, desde las telecomunicaciones basadas en tecnología espacial, la difusión audiovisual los servicios meteorológicos y la navegación marítima hasta la distribución de comunicaciones terrestres", precisó la ESA.
